I like to paint.
This seems to hit me in spurts, the urge to re-do rooms in the house on a whim. And I do mean a whim. I may think about painting, and then yes, go paint. Not stopping to second guess my color or timing or anything.
Today I saw a show about kitchens. It made me want to paint. I rounded up oldest daughter, some dark brown paint and was painting within ten minutes.
So now my entryway is a dark, chocolatey brown. And I plan to have silver trim/accents in there within the week. Very stagey looking room - and against the whole "bright and airy" bullshit that annoys me when I hear it overused both in life and on home buying/redecorating shows. Bright and airy my ass. It's a dark little entryway where kids get fingerprints and backpacks and mud and backpacks spread all over the place. It's not ever gonna be "bright and airy" even if I painted it yellow.
I do love yellow though. I had it in my old house, all over the main level.
But this house has more of a brown/tan feel. And, big plus, those colors are easy to clean.

Omg, I THOUGHT I liked to paint. Then I mmoved into an outdated 100 year old house with salmon and burnt orange walls. I'm slowly making it room by room but I'm thinking of giving up and hiring a poor college student. Wait... poor law students cant afford poor college students...darn!
