Law reception

Friday I went to a law school reception for incoming students, hosted by the largest firm in my city. I was a bit of a "celeb" at the thing, having just won a very prestigious scholarship. The evening reinforced my own feeling that it is nice to be an older student in these situations. The younger students stuck together, drank too much and chatted in a group. I got to meet deans, professors, practicing attorneys and partners, and other students at my future school who are further along in the process.

Then I came home and went out with hubby to see 300. I hated that movie. Too gory, boring, nothing really motivating about it. Hubby and I argued long and hard about the "senseless violence" that I saw vs. the "underdog fighting to beat the big guy" aspect of the movie he felt made it wonderful.

Yesterday we spent money like it was water - ate out, took kids to buy bunk beds, bought some books...Something we don't do often.

Today was groceries and mundane household stuff. We also took the kids all out to walk in the gorgeous weather. And now I am trying hard to figure out how to make my BlackJack realize that the time has indeed changed....

Tomorrow I pay the piper for my out of control eating this week, and for my lack of study time as well. Back to the gym, back to the books, back to reality. Maybe I can "lose" my check card in a block of ice in the freezer?

Green bean fries are good for you right?

Sorry, I think they have to be, they are a veggie right???

I had my interview day yesterday. It was a way smaller finalist pool than I had imagined. 160 considered, and five of us made the final round of Scholar Jeopardy. Sat in on a class at the school, which was weird and comforting at once as I was able to follow most of it. Then had a big fancy dinner and drinks with the scholarship committee and the professors of the school as well as former scholars.

If I got this scholarship, I would have to go to this school. It is too tempting and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the law school itself though I hate the campus it is located on. The law school itself was quite modern and every 2L and 3L gets an office, of all the strange things.

More and more excited here!
